The Gallery is in Broakulla at the southern edge of Glasriket “The Kingdom of Glass” and is housed in the dirigent villa built by the first owner of Johansfors glasbruk in 1891..
The Gallery specialises in the work of British and Nordic artists working with glass and builds on the the private collection of Duncan & Liz Timms. It complements a number of other venues in the area, notably The Glass Factory in Boda Glasbruk, which opened in June 2011 and shows a comprehensive historical collection of work produced by the Johansfors, Åfors, Boda and Kosta glass works, as well as hosting a number of contemporary exhibitions. The Glass Factory also houses a hot-shop which is used by a variety of visiting artists. Further information on the glassworks and glass studios in Glasriket is given on the AB Glasriket site. Another collection of Swedish glass, covering both factory production and the work of individual artists working in glass is in Smålands Museum in Växjö.
In keeping with the traditions of Johansfors, the Gallery has a particular emphasis on engraved glass and features work from the Guild of Glass Engravers.
In addition to glass, the Gallery also shows British art pottery, especially that pro-duced by Moorcroft
