Johansfors is situated in Broakulla, part of Emmaboda kommun, in the southern part of Glasriket “the Kingdom of Glass”
Johansfors Glasbruk was founded in 1891 and lies along the banks of the Lyckeby river , which runs for 100 kms from Kosta to the Baltic. The Glassworks ceased production in 2013 and its future is unclear. The Gallery initially occupied space in the exhibition area of the Glasbruk, but has now moved across the river to the old patron’s house at Bruksgatan 38.
Broakulla is c.60km from Kalmar, Karlskrona and Växjö and lies just off Route 28.
There are direct rail services to Emmaboda from Copenhagen and Gothenburg, both of which have regular international air services. The direct train journey to Emmaboda from Copenhagen Airport takes about 3 hours. Stockholm Skavsta and Göteborg airports are both about 4 hours drive away. Växjö and Kalmar have airports primarily catering for internal flights. Th Gallery is just under 9 km from Emmaboda station.
