Johansfors is situated in Broakulla, part of Emmaboda kommun, in Glasriket “the Kingdom of Glass”. Johansfors Glasbruk was founded in 1891 and lies along the banks of the Lyckeby river , which runs for 100 kms from Kosta to the Baltic. The Glassworks ceased production in 2013 and its future is unclear.
The Gallery initially occupied space in the exhibition area of the Glasbruk, but has now moved across the river to the old patron’s house at Bruksgatan 38.
Broakulla is equidistant from Kalmar, Karlskrona and Växjö. There are direct rail services to Emmaboda from Copenhagen and Gothenburg, both of which have regular air services to the UK and Germany. The direct train journey to Emmaboda takes about 3 hours. Stockholm Skavsta and Göteborg airports are both about 4 hours drive away. Växjö and Kalmar have airports primarily catering for internal flights.
